Oasis, founded by Anne B. LaRussa in 1995, provides affordable, high-quality counseling to individuals who might otherwise be unable to afford these services. Since its inception, Oasis has helped more than 46,500 women, children, and families experiencing trauma and other mental health problems. Local community mental health centers treat serious mental illness (SMI), but not the mental health disorders experienced by Oasis’ clients.
Oasis serves hundreds of women and children annually who have experienced physical, emotional, and sexual abuse; severe depression or anxiety, grief from divorce or death and other problems. Additionally, children may have experienced trauma from severe neglect in the home or multiple foster home placements.
